Funny, but lacking. . .

This is your only submission on Newgrounds, so you're doing very well for an up-and-coming artist. Keep it up! The animation was alright. You did a fine job of moving the figures across the screen fluidly, and not taking any crappy shortcuts. There is very clear effort in this. In terms of direction of the animation itself, try downloading the Flash "Vcam" (google it) and use that to make the whole thing more visually interesting. Also, work on your background art a little. Work with linear and gradient filling for skies and flat surfaces.

The audio was a decent effort; you picked a good song. Use some sound effects next time (make them quieter than the song, of course) to make the whole thing more audibly exciting. Other than that, you did a good job. Maybe sync the animation and the audio?

The idea itself was funny, but not that intriguing. "A big cliff where are stick figures go to die. . ." could be really hilarious, had you added more plot and back-story. It's clear to me, though, that your still finding your way around flash, and learning how to project all of the images in your head onto the screen. I can relate to this, so just keep working!

It was a good effort, and I enjoyed it alright. Maybe try to direct it a little better, and add some sound effects. Start writing in plot-lines and such, and you'll be on your way to greatness. I voted three on this submission, to raise the score; I'm nice.

Not very creative. . .

This flash was pretty decent, but it didn't keep me interested. The animation was very basic, and unintriguing. I often find myself watching a great flash and wondering "Oh wow! How did they do animate that?!", but this didn't do it for me. The art somewhat inhuman, and boring looking. The background was also a little disappointing. Your lip-syncing was okay, but there's definitely room for improvement. Your "frame-by-frame" animation was pretty weak as well, but all around it wasn't that bad.

In terms of audio, this had an alright feel. Clearly, there's not much to be said here, considering it's a clip from an audio routine. The audio quality on the clip wasn't perfect, but there's only so much you can do sometimes. Maybe you could have amplified the audio and put some chill jazz behind it to keep the viewer interested, but the way you did it was okay.

Normally, I'd comment on the writing, but there wasn't any, since it was someone else's. It was a funny clip, and I like Bill Hicks, so good pick.

All things taken into consideration, I'll conclude by saying you did an alright job on this flash. Could've been better, could've been far worse. I'm going to vote four, because I liked the submission, and I don't want to lower the score.

Yuck, you are the worst. You know, just because you write a whole lot, that doesn't mean anything you said is valid. You really expect a materpiece every time you watch a Flash cartoon? You fucking lunk head, get off the internet. You have Tomorrow's Nobodys in your favorites and you're talking shit about my animation?
Nothing you said is constructive, it's just insults covered with bullshit like "room for improvement". By the way, background music would have ruined the comedy.

Enjoyable!

I have to tell you, this movie gave me a great laugh. The characters seemed really fluid and actually real, as opposed to characters that have robotic dialog and bad voicing. I didn't want it to end, because it wasn't stale or boring. The characters intrigued me, and I wanted to see how they would interact. It was a great movie, and I'd love to see more from you, despite the stationary animation. I'm giving you a four, for a good laugh.

Ghosty22 responds:

Thank you, Sir! If you have some time, there are other episodes in that series.

You're very talented!

The only real advice I could give you if ever you wanted to do an actual flash movie is add backgrounds, a script, and voice acting. Other than that, great job!

Not bad. . .

"Mario Vs. . ." flashes are by far the most stale gimmick on Newgrounds, without any question. Yeah, Mario is a cool character, but I think I've seen him fight every video game character from his brother Luigi to Silent Hill's Pyramid Head. It's old by now. I don't care anymore.

The animation itself was pretty fluid, and I was impressed by that. You did a good job of finding a great sprite sheet. It would have been much better if you would have taken more time with your sprites, though. I noticed some white you neglected to take out on both the Mario and Bowser sprites. Take your time!

I was bored. This didn't keep me very entertained. Show me something other than a one-sided fight sequence. Play around with camera angles a little more. It doesn't always have to be extreme close up. Let the camera show off the environment a little more. I know you're a little restricted to sprites, but there's a lot that can be done. Just try a little harder in general.

I gave you a four, because I'm generous and want to see higher scores in the portal.

Diogo544 responds:

hm thanks for the four, well i found some coolfighting custom mario sprites so wi not do him fighting,
and why not do him fighting bowser? buf i will never make him fighting Silent kill"s pyramid head, its gona be kinda weird XD
but i like fighting scenes and i like the mario character , but i'm a begginer on flash maybe some day you cam watch the next movies i will made ,and maybe i keep you entertaiment thanks for the review man!

Impressive!

I was initially turned off by the sloppy art and somewhat bland atmosphere, but I soon realized the true potential of this flash.

You had some great animation in there, and you did a good job with your camera angles and cinematography. I was very pleased to see someone who knew that keeping a movie interesting meant more than just having funny lines or compelling story. I don't want to watch something visually boring, and this was a breath of fresh air compared to other Newgrounds entries.

The writing and comedy was a fair five out of ten. I could have been a lot better, but certainly a lot worse. The way you voice acted it was really great, and the voices didn't leave me bored and uninterested. The commercial break was great, and I'd love some Heavy Metal Milk. The ending was a little abrupt, but still funny. This movie certainly kept me laughing and watching. Also, it was nice to have a semi-lengthy and funny movie around here. It's not often that a green-lit flash is longer than a few minutes. Great job!

I'm sorely disappointed with the score this received. I think "Late night with Heidi" deserves a solid 3.70. I give you a five for great effort.

Could use more effort. . .

These random FBF movies are pretty common among the green-lights of the portal, and for good reason. They require no writing, no real skill, and no real effort. It's very convenient to be able to not have to write or voice act anything for a movie, I understand that, but it could use so much more effort. The best way to make a movie is to imagine yourself as the watcher, and try to think of how you'd feel watching this movie. This movie was boring and pointless, but smoothly animated, and well drawn. I can give you definite kudos on your ability to do frame-by-frame animation. I know that sort of animating takes lots of patience and time.

I'm giving you a three for a decent attempt.

Happy birthday JonBro!

I wish I would've known about this ahead of time. I would've loved to join in. I loved it.

I'm giving you a five, for celebration!

You don't need anymore criticsm...

You're Wonchop, you know what your doing. Obviously this was very short, although it was very well drawn. Great job.

I'm here to fuck shit up.
